A man identified as Idris Abdullahi, 49, has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of another man following a violent altercation in Calabar.
According to information received on June 15, 2026, at about 11:05 a.m., the incident reportedly stemmed from an earlier dispute between Idris Abdullahi and a group of unidentified street boys along Mary Slessor Road on June 14, 2026, during which he allegedly sustained injuries.
Police sources disclosed that on June 15, Abdullahi allegedly traced one of the individuals involved to Chronicle Barracks Road, opposite Akim Police Barracks, where he reportedly chased and stabbed the victim with a knife.
The victim was immediately rushed to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) for medical treatment but was later confirmed dead by doctors.
The deceased’s body has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The suspect is currently in police custody, while the case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
