Wike gain favor from Tinubu after recent Developments in Abuja

Written by Mary Bassey

President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s decision to exempt the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), stating that the policy has provided the financial flexibility needed to accelerate infrastructure development and improve service delivery across Abuja.

Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of the newly completed Office Annex of the Body of Benchers and 10 units of four-bedroom staff quarters at the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja, the President said the exemption has enabled the FCTA to access and utilize its internally generated revenue more efficiently for critical development projects.

Tinubu commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for effectively implementing the policy and translating it into visible infrastructure projects that are reshaping the nation’s capital.

The President noted that the rapid pace of ongoing road construction, urban renewal, and other public infrastructure projects within the FCT reflects the positive impact of granting the administration greater financial autonomy.

Addressing concerns over the government’s investment in judicial infrastructure, Tinubu dismissed suggestions that the Executive was attempting to interfere with the independence of the judiciary. He emphasized that providing modern facilities for judicial institutions is part of the government’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law and improving the administration of justice, rather than influencing judicial decisions.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting institutions that promote justice, good governance, and national development, stressing that investments in critical public infrastructure remain central to his Renewed Hope Agenda.
