The University of Calabar, UNICAL bans final year week and signing out on clothes (white shirts) during final exams.
This decree was made on Tuesday the 26th day of Nov 2024.
The school management bans the following; FYB week, driving of cars, spraying of money, water ritual, drinking of alcohol and gathering at UNICAL lattern at the main gate.
Why University of Calabar UNICAL bans final year week and signing on shirts
The school management stated that these is an essential measure taken to ensure safety, preserve order, and uphold the institution’s standards.
Reasons why some students were suspended during the last final exam
The management suspended all final year students from three departments for violating the institution’s directive on reckless driving, flying of colors, and wild celebrations after their final exams
The affected departments include Environmental Protection and Management, Microbiology, and Mass Communication.
The suspended students during the last final exams will be involved in cleaning the University of Calabar campus (cleaning and sweeping) for one week as part of the activities that could lead to their suspension being lifted.
Failure to take part in this one week compulsory community service will result to affected students not being allowed to graduate.
