UNICAL to Officially Participate in Carnival Calabar 2024 As UNICAL Carnival Band

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Prof. Florence Obi, has officially approved the participation of the UNICAL Carnival Band in the upcoming Carnival Calabar 2024. This exciting development was announced in a release issued by Dr. Arnold Udoka, the Director of the University of Calabar Performing Company.

In light of the approval, all faculties within the university are requested to nominate a representative to attend a formal meeting of the Central Planning Committee, which will take place in the Conference Room of the Vice Chancellor’s office on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 2:30 PM. This meeting is pivotal for outlining the specific roles and responsibilities of each faculty in the university’s participation in this prestigious event.

According to the release, each faculty is expected to prepare a 20-member team comprising both students and staff, who will represent the university in the Carnival Calabar Dry Runs scheduled for October 13, November 17, and December 8, 2024. This marks a significant moment for the university as it actively engages in promoting the rich cultural heritage of Cross River State through Carnival Calabar.

Faculties are further instructed to appear in T-shirts representing their official convocation colours, fostering a sense of unity and identity among the various academic divisions.
