The Executive Chairman of Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Chief Amb. Uno Etim Uno, has honoured Enobong Iyahakwa Okpodighi, a first class graduate of the University of Calabar, with an Award of Excellence, full sponsorship for her Master’s degree, and a cash donation of ₦500,000.

Enobong Iyahakwa Okpodighi, an indigene of Mbokpu Ukokai in Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, graduated with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calabar. She was also the only First Class graduate across all departments in the Faculty of Engineering.

At the university’s 2025/2026 convocation ceremony held on April 10, 2026, she emerged as the second overall best graduating student. She was also recognised as the best graduating student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering, and the best female graduating student.

The honour was formally conferred during a reception organised by the local government chairman on April 15, 2026, at the council conference hall. Speaking at the event, Rt. Hon. Chief Amb. Uno Etim Uno praised her dedication, brilliance, and determination, describing her achievements as a source of pride to the entire local government area.

The chairman said the scholarship and financial support were intended to encourage excellence and inspire other young people in the area to pursue academic success. He assured that his administration would continue to support education and youth development across Urue-Offong/Oruko Local Government Area.
