VC APPOINTS NEW HODs, EXTENDS TENURE OF ONE
In her unrelenting efforts at placing the institution on a higher pedestal for effective Service delivery, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar( Unical), Prof. Florence Obi has approved the appointments of no fewer than 16 Acting Heads of Departments(HODs).
The latest appointments which was conveyed in separate letters signed by the Vice Chancellor are for a period of two years, with effect from October 2024 to September 2026.
The new Acting HODs are; Dr. Juliet. N. Ekpang( Department of English and Literary Studies), Dr. Oboyi Joseph ( Department of Mathematics), Dr. Chigozie Uzomba( Department of Paediatrics), Dr. Andem Andem Bassey( Department of Zoology and Environmental Biology), Dr. Joseph. E. Udosen( Department of Surgery), Dr. Ekpenyong Nsa( Department of Estate Management), Surv. Dr. Stephen Utre( Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics), Dr. Oquetan Ibor( Department of Environmental Management).
Others are; Tpl. Eddie James( Department of Urban and Regional Planning), Dr. Sunday Eneh( Department of Business Management), Dr. Patrick Mbum( Department of Marketing), Dr. Daniel Ikpi Ewa( Department of Physiology), Dr. Ubong Bassey Akpan( Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Dr. Patrick Akwaji( Department of Plant and Ecological Studies), Dr. Ebu Vincent Tawo( Department of Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management), and Dr. Nnette Ekpenyong ( Department of Community Medicine).
The University helmsman, as contained in the letters, charged the HODs to discharge their duties effectively in order to ensure optimal productivity, saying her administration will not hesitate to sanction any of them who fails to turn in their results within the specified timeline.
This is even as the Vice Chancellor also extended the appointment of Dr. Fidelis Anake Atseye as Head of the Department of Banking and Finance.
The extension of appointment as conveyed in a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor takes effect from 21 October, 2024 to 20th December 2024.
According to the letter, the extension of Dr. Atseye’s appointment is to enable him oversee the forthcoming October/ November accreditation successfully.
