Nigerian street-hop star Zlatan Ibile has sparked conversations on social media after correcting a master of ceremonies during an award presentation at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
During the event, the MC referenced the popular phrase “City Boy” while presenting the award to the rapper. However, Zlatan quickly interrupted with a lighthearted but firm response, saying, “No be city boy movement we dey do here.”
His remark drew loud cheers and laughter from the audience, with many attendees applauding his response. A video of the moment has since gone viral across social media platforms, attracting mixed reactions from fans and online users.
Although Zlatan did not elaborate on the statement, many social media users interpreted it as a subtle way of distancing himself from political slogans and reaffirming his association with street culture and his own brand identity.
The award presentation formed part of activities held at MAPOLY, where the rapper was recognised for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry and his influence on youth and popular culture.
The viral clip has continued to generate debate online, with supporters praising Zlatan’s authenticity while others viewed the comment as a humorous response made in the moment.
