After weeks away from the spotlight, youth advocate and convener Cynthia Chinenye Maduekwe, popularly known as CyanahPEN, is set to unveil two initiatives aimed at creating opportunities, connections and collaborative platforms for young creatives and emerging leaders.
A University of Calabar alumna and currently serving as an NYSC Corps Member in Calabar, Maduekwe has spent recent weeks working behind the scenes to develop projects focused on connecting young people with influential networks, knowledge and opportunities.
At the heart of her vision is a question she believes deserves greater attention: “Do young people lack opportunities, or do we lack access to the right people?”
Her upcoming initiatives seek to provide part of the answer by creating spaces where young talents can interact directly with experienced professionals, influential voices and potential collaborators.
When Creatives, Intellect & Influential Converge
The first initiative, “When Creatives, Intellect & Influential Converge,” is designed as a platform for writers, designers, media practitioners, campus leaders, young advocates and other emerging talents.
The programme will focus on conversations around media, public relations, advocacy and nation-building, while also creating opportunities for participants to learn from professionals actively working in these fields.
According to the organisers, the initiative is also expected to feature masterclasses and networking opportunities, alongside a proposed Campus Cascade Plan aimed at extending the impact beyond Calabar to Port Harcourt and other parts of Nigeria.
Rather than simply creating another event, the initiative seeks to build a community where young people can exchange ideas, develop useful connections and gain access to platforms that can support their growth.
Port Harcourt Suya Hangout
The second initiative takes a more relaxed approach to networking.
Dubbed the Port Harcourt Suya Hangout, the gathering is designed to bring together creatives, intellectuals and influential voices in an informal environment where participants can network, exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.
The concept combines social interaction with meaningful conversations, creating an atmosphere where relationships can develop outside the traditional boardroom setting.
For Maduekwe, the two initiatives reflect a broader vision of helping young Nigerians move beyond simply looking for opportunities to building the networks and relationships that can open doors.
As preparations continue, the projects are expected to provide new avenues for young creatives and emerging leaders to connect, learn and collaborate across cities.
With Calabar serving as an important starting point, CyanahPEN’s latest initiatives could mark the beginning of a wider conversation about access, influence and the role of young people in shaping Nigeria’s creative and intellectual future.
