The media aide to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, has said the outcome of the 2027 governorship election will ultimately be determined at polling units, rather than on social media.
Shawai made the remark in a statement issued on Friday while highlighting Gwamna’s growing engagement with communities and political stakeholders across Gombe State ahead of the election.
He noted that while social media has become an important platform for political communication and public engagement, online visibility should not be mistaken for actual electoral support.
According to him, the real test for political candidates remains their ability to connect with voters at the grassroots and translate such engagement into support at the polling units.
Shawai said Gwamna’s political activities have increasingly focused on direct interaction with communities, stakeholders, party members and supporters across the state.
The APC candidate has also been involved in efforts aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election, with party stakeholders calling for increased engagement across local government areas, wards and polling units.
Gwamna has previously pledged to run a peaceful and issue-based campaign, while urging eligible young people to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.
Shawai’s comments come as political activities intensify in Gombe ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with the APC campaign focusing on grassroots mobilisation, continuity and its “Gombe First” agenda.
He maintained that candidates and political organisations must therefore look beyond online popularity and build genuine relationships with voters in communities across the state.
The 2027 governorship race is expected to generate increased political activity as parties and their candidates continue to mobilise supporters ahead of the election.
