World Tourism Day: Cross River Set To Host And Celebrate in Calabar, Inaugurates LOC
The Honourbable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Eric Anderson has inaugurated the Local Organizing committee for the forthcoming World Tourist Day to be hosted in Calabar on the 27th of September, 2022.
In line with the decision of the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, the 2022/45th edition of the WTD will be celebrated with the theme \’RETHINKING TOURISM\’ and the international official celebration will be hosted by Indonesia in Bali.
The celebration provide a good platform for countries to create awareness about Tourism, it\’s socio-economic benefits, highlights the synergy between tourism and other sectors and to access countries performance in terms of tourism development, policies, programmes, institutional and regulatory framework.
Nigeria, as a member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will join the rest of the world to mark the 2022 World Tourism Day.
The celebration shall involve a range of activities aimed at promoting the theme as well as projecting the socio-economic benefits of tourism and Cross River State has won the right to host the 2022 celebration.
