10 Arrested as Police Uncover Shocking Discovery in Oyo

Written by Mary Bassey

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected merchants of human body parts and recovered suspected human remains, charms and other items during separate operations in the state.

The suspects were arrested at different hideouts in Iseyin and Saki areas following months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by operatives of the command’s monitoring unit.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Oyo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday.

According to Ayanlade, the arrests followed sustained efforts by the command to identify and apprehend individuals allegedly involved in the illegal trade in human parts.

He said the suspects were taken into police custody for questioning, while the recovered items were secured as part of the ongoing investigation.

The command said further investigations are underway to establish the source of the suspected human remains and determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the alleged activities.

The police also assured residents that operatives would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations against criminal networks across the state.

The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist security agencies in identifying and disrupting criminal activities in their communities.
