The Oyo State Government has officially taken delivery of two security surveillance aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen security and improve emergency response across the state.
The aircraft arrived at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan on Tuesday and are expected to enhance aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations in Oyo State and surrounding areas.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the arrival of the aircraft reflects the state government’s continued investment in technology-driven security initiatives aimed at tackling crime and improving public safety.
According to him, Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier disclosed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at the Nigerian Air Force’s hangar in Lagos before being moved to Ibadan.
The commissioner noted that the state government had assured residents that the aircraft would be delivered before the end of July, adding that the successful arrival fulfills that promise.
Once fully deployed, the surveillance aircraft are expected to provide real-time aerial monitoring, support intelligence-led security operations, improve coordination among security agencies, and strengthen efforts to combat criminal activities across Oyo State and neighboring regions.
The latest development underscores the Makinde administration’s commitment to enhancing security infrastructure and ensuring the safety of residents through modern technology and strategic investment.
