Breaking News: Tinubu travels to United Nation with Betta Edu and 7 others

 

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu who is among the delegation travelling with President Bola Tinubu has arrived New York with the President, where she will be participating in the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), her first as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr Betta Edu is expected to play an expertise role and deliver recommendations on
the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) measures on poverty reduction and provides information for policymaking which assesses poverty in various aspects of people’s daily lives, such as education, health, housing, and access to basic amenities to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of people who are still facing crises.

The theme of the 2023 UNGA is: “Rebuilding trust and Reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.”

The President was accompanied by Governors Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State; Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State; Hope Uzodinma of Imo State; Uba Sani of Kaduna State; AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara State; and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Also in the delegation of the President is the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Coordinating Minister of the Economy & Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Mohammed Pate; Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and other senior government officials will also be present.
