Nigerian cybersecurity startup Aeon has secured $1 million in funding to accelerate the development of its technology as cyber threats continue to pose growing risks to businesses and digital infrastructure.
The funding is expected to support the company’s technology development and efforts to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities amid increasing concerns over data breaches, online fraud, ransomware and other forms of cyberattacks.
Cybersecurity has become increasingly important as businesses, financial institutions and government agencies rely more heavily on digital systems to store information, process transactions and deliver services.
For Nigerian technology companies, the growing demand for digital security presents opportunities to develop solutions that help organisations identify vulnerabilities, protect sensitive information and respond more effectively to cyber threats.
Aeon’s latest funding represents a potential boost for its efforts to develop its technology and compete in the expanding cybersecurity market.
However, further details about the funding round, including the investors involved, the company’s specific technology and its planned use of the capital, should be confirmed before publication.
The funding round was led by Terra Industries, with participation from Resilience17, the investment fund associated with Flutterwave co-founder Olugbenga Agboola, alongside other investors. Aeon was founded by Samuel Ogbonyomi, Ben Eluan and Alex Idowu.
The company is developing two main products: Aeon Edge, a device designed to secure networks and data, and Aeon Console, a platform that monitors and helps address vulnerabilities across software, cloud systems and connected devices.
The investment comes as Aeon seeks to expand its cybersecurity solutions beyond Nigeria and support organisations across Africa and other emerging markets.
