The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to bring Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest on Instagram, to court for alleged manipulation of Nigerian currency.
Okechukwu faces three charges filed by the EFCC on April 4. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday for arraignment.
The charges, brought by EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), accuse Okechukwu of mishandling N500 notes during various social gatherings.
One of the charges alleges that on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, Okechukwu tampered with N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying them for two hours, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.
Similarly, another count accuses him of similar actions during a social event in Lagos in 2020, while the third count pertains to an incident in January 2024 in Lagos.
