The Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Nursing, Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, has commended Governor Sen Dr. Prince Bassey Edet Otu for prioritizing healthcare in the state. This praise follows the ongoing construction of the proposed Ikom General Hospital, a long-awaited project that will provide essential healthcare services to residents.
During his visit to the site, Mr. Coco-Bassey expressed appreciation for the governor’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure. He noted that the new hospital would significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the LGA and senatorial district while providing affordable healthcare to residents.
The special assistant also visited the Primary Health Care Center in Ikom, which will be integrated with the new General Hospital to provide both primary and secondary healthcare services. He assured the management and staff that the recent employment of new health workers by the state government will help reduce workload and improve service delivery.
Mr. Coco-Bassey emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in healthcare delivery, particularly in midwifery services, which should only be provided by specialized professionals.
The Director of Local Government Health Authority, Mrs. Patience Ekong, thanked the special assistant and his team for their visit, praising the governor’s commitment to healthcare and the supervision work done by the Hon Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ajuk. She noted that the project has rekindled hope in the people, who are confident that their health needs will be prioritized.
The special assistant and his team toured the site of the new hospital and the primary health care center, accompanied by the management of the primary health care center.
