What Happened to 66 NSCDC Officers Across Nigeria?

Written by Mary Bassey

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 officers across the country over various disciplinary offences, with some facing dismissal, compulsory retirement and possible criminal prosecution.

The Commandant-General of the Corps, Ahmed Audi, disclosed this on Friday, November 6, 2026, during an interview with journalists in Abuja.

According to Audi, the disciplinary measures include dismissal, compulsory retirement, demotion and formal warnings, depending on the nature and severity of the offences committed.

He explained that the actions followed investigations into allegations of misconduct against the affected personnel and were subsequently approved by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

The NSCDC boss revealed that some of the offences involved arms dealing, warning that officers found culpable of serious criminal activities would face prosecution. He added that some personnel had already been dismissed after prosecution, while others would still face legal proceedings.

Audi further stated that all affected officers underwent established disciplinary procedures, including orderly room trials and investigations by relevant staff disciplinary committees, before the sanctions were approved.

He noted that the affected personnel were drawn from various formations, including state commands, zonal commands, area commands and the corps’ national headquarters.

The Commandant-General stressed that the NSCDC would not tolerate indiscipline or any conduct capable of damaging the organisation’s professional standards.

He described the disciplinary exercise as part of efforts to strengthen accountability, maintain professionalism and discourage other personnel from engaging in activities that violate the corps’ regulations.

Meanwhile, Audi disclosed that approximately 17,000 personnel had recently qualified for promotion out of about 22,000 officers and men who participated in the promotion examination.

He explained that the promotion exercise was based on candidates’ performance and available vacancies approved by the Federal Government.

The development comes as the NSCDC continues efforts to strengthen discipline, improve personnel welfare and enhance its operations across the country.
