What Happened to a 15-Year-Old Orphan Over Just ₦1,000?

Written by Mary Bassey

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has appealed to members of the public for help after a 15-year-old orphan was reportedly found sleeping in an uncompleted building in Rivers State.

According to the activist, the teenage girl was allegedly sent away from her guardian’s home after she misplaced ₦1,000.

The development has raised concerns about the welfare of the minor, who reportedly found herself without proper shelter following the incident.

Gwamnishu, who brought attention to the girl’s situation, is seeking assistance from compassionate Nigerians and other well-meaning individuals to help improve her living conditions.

The incident has also sparked conversations about the treatment of vulnerable children, particularly orphans who depend on guardians and relatives for care, protection and basic necessities.

At 15, the girl still needs adequate support, security and a safe environment to continue her education and grow without the fear of homelessness.

The activist’s appeal is expected to draw attention to her plight and encourage individuals and relevant authorities to provide the necessary assistance.

However, further details about the girl’s identity, the exact location where she was discovered and any intervention so far have not been independently confirmed.
