Ilia Topuria Hints at Retirement but Targets April Return as He Calls Out Paddy Pimblett
UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has opened up about the difficult moments in his career, admitting that he has experienced the worst day of his professional life while hinting that retirement could be an option after his next fight.
Topuria, who has enjoyed tremendous success inside the Octagon, reflected on his achievements and questioned what more he has left to accomplish in the sport.
“I’ve faced the worst day of my job. What’s worse? Dying?” Topuria said.
The Spanish-Georgian fighter also suggested that he could consider walking away from mixed martial arts, insisting that he has already achieved everything he set out to accomplish.
“I’ve achieved everything, and after this fight, what else? Maybe I’ll even retire,” he added.
Despite raising the possibility of retirement, Topuria has indicated that he is targeting a return to action in April.
He also made his intentions clear by repeatedly calling out Paddy Pimblett, suggesting that the British fighter could be his next opponent.
“I’m coming back in April. Paddy, Paddy, Paddy,” Topuria declared.
His comments have added further excitement to speculation surrounding a potential showdown with Pimblett, although no official fight announcement has been made.
For now, fans will be watching closely to see whether Topuria makes his April return and whether a highly anticipated clash with Pimblett becomes a reality.
