Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the successful delivery of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, describing it as a landmark achievement that could leave a lasting legacy for the President.
Eno made the appeal on Friday, November 6, 2026, during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The governor urged Tinubu to give the proposed seaport the necessary attention and support, stressing its importance to the economic development of Akwa Ibom State and the country at large.
He described the project as an opportunity for the President to write his name in gold, highlighting its potential to transform the state’s maritime and commercial sectors.
The Ibom Deep Seaport is a major proposed maritime infrastructure project expected to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity for international trade, attract investments, create employment opportunities and boost economic activities in the South-South region.
The governor’s appeal comes as the Ibom Deep Seaport remains a major proposed infrastructure project for the state. According to the project’s official status report, it has secured Federal Government approval, completed its Environmental Impact Assessment and reached the Full Business Case and procurement stage.
When completed, the port is expected to accommodate large vessels, improve maritime transportation, facilitate international trade and position Akwa Ibom as an important commercial hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
The governor’s appeal adds to ongoing efforts by his administration to secure federal support and attract investment towards the actualisation of the long-awaited project.
