Cross River Central District Seek for Accountability of 3.162B Budget

In the 2025 Appropriation Law, over ₦3.162 billion was budgeted for various constituency projects under Senator Eteng Jones Williams, representing Cross River Central.

On paper, these projects empowerment programs, rural electrification, road works, and medical outreach sound impressive. But beneath the surface lies a worrying story of recycled promises, questionable allocations, and poor delivery, especially when compared to Senators in the North and South who are showing visible results.

For three consecutive years, the same items keep appearing in the budget: motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, and medical outreaches.

Yet, constituents across Yakurr, Ikom, Boki, Obubra, and Etung are still waiting to see them. Who are the real beneficiaries? Where are the records and receipts?

The ₦500 Million Mkpani Ring Road That Leads Nowhere Despite half a billion naira allocated to his hometown project, the road in Mkpani remains deplorable. What happened to the funds? How does a ₦500 million road vanish into thin air?

Medical Outreach or Media Show?
₦150 million was budgeted for medical outreach yet no major medical mission has taken place. ‎What we see are photoshop and token visits, not real healthcare intervention.

Empowerment Without Empowerment
₦200 million for empowerment, yet no traceable beneficiaries. In Ikom, market fire victims got no relief.
In Mkpani, no market built. Some participants reportedly got ₦20,000 and a day-old chick.

“Solar lights,” “boreholes,” “agricultural tools” same projects, different figures. Over ₦440 million budgeted for solar lights, yet most communities remain in darkness.

₦100 million for lights in Obubra produced barely twenty poles.
Furthermore, the writer said “Instead of showing projects, the senator seems more focused on political propaganda and attacking perceived rivals like Hon. Oden Ewa, who without public funds has executed visible community projects from personal resources.

So, who’s really serving the people? The one with billions in public funds or the one using personal effort to make impact?

Cross River Central District Seek for Accountability of 3.162B Budget

We call on Senator Eteng Jones Williams to, within two weeks, publish a detailed list of all constituency projects from 2023 to 2025 including locations, contractors, amounts, and completion status.

These are public funds, not campaign funds for 2027.
The people of Cross River Central are watching. Accountability is not a favor. it’s a duty.
