Earlier yesterday, during a Church Hall Meeting with the Unit Clergy Coordinators Forum and Persons Living with Disabilities at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Old Town Parish, Calabar, Rep Bassey Akiba had the privilege of releasing a total of ₦55,000,000 alongside bags of rice to support his constituents as they celebrate Christmas.

Rep Bassey Akiba Blow Hot with Detty December Giveaways

Akiba who stated that he often remind myself that leadership is not about abundance; it is about empathy. This gesture is simply my way of sharing the little we can, especially at a time when many families are under immense economic pressure. Christmas should not be a season of anxiety it should be a season of hope, warmth, and togetherness.

To ensure fairness and inclusion, the funds were carefully distributed as follows:
₦25 Million to Cooperative Members across Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, to strengthen livelihoods and encourage economic resilience.

₦20 Million to the Cross River State APC, in recognition of party structures and grassroots mobilization that sustain democratic engagement.

₦10 Million to the Unit Clergy Coordinators Forum and Persons Living with Disabilities, reaffirming my strong belief in faith-based partnership and inclusive representation that leaves no one behind.

Beyond the figures, this intervention is about people their dignity, their struggles, and their right to feel remembered and valued. I remain deeply committed to a style of representation that is humane, responsive, and rooted in compassion, especially for the most vulnerable among us.

In Conclusion, He ended by saying As we celebrate the birth of Christ, He pray that this small contribution brings smiles to homes, eases burdens, and strengthens the spirit of love, unity, and shared responsibility that binds us as one people. I assure my constituents that this is not the end there will be sustained efforts toward empowerment programmes, developmental projects, and interventions that make real, measurable differences in everyday lives.

May this Christmas bring peace to every home and renewed hope to our land.
