The ancient town of Akpap-Okoyong came alive in a whirlwind of joy and festivity as the Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, ushered in the New Year with his kinsmen in a grand, carnival-like celebration.
Earlier, Rep. Bassey Akiba received ministers from the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN), who commended his steadfast support for the Church community and prayed for his continued success. The federal lawmaker thanked the servants of God for the visit and made a generous donation to advance the service of God.
The famous Bassey Otu/Bassey Akiba – BB GUYS & BB BABES joined Rep. Bassey Akiba in a colourful procession as the Brass Band lit up the atmosphere with an exhilarating performance. From thunderous drumbeats to shimmering brass melodies, every note had feet tapping and hearts soaring with palpable excitement.
Amid the celebration, Rep. Bassey Akiba paid homage to his mentor, Ntufam Ekpo Okon, as a mark of gratitude and respect. The Member of Parliament acknowledged the pivotal role Ntufam Ekpo Okon played in providing the platform, nurturing his journey into public service, and shaping his political career.
In response, Ntufam Ekpo Okon hailed Rep. Akiba as a worthy son of the community, whose dedication continues to bring honour to his people, and commended Governor Bassey Otu’s People First administration for inspiring hope and purposeful leadership across the state.
The celebration later moved to Adiabo, where the Brass Band, alongside the spirited BB BABES and BB GUYS, delivered a breathtaking spectacle of music and dance in honour of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu. Their vibrant performance ignited the town with joy, leaving onlookers spellbound.
