Reaction from Residence As Bassey Akiba Lights Up Major Communities in Calabar Municipal

Written by calabarGist

The Member representing Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba, has brought renewed hope and improved security to several communities in Calabar Municipal through the installation of functional streetlights.

Residents of the benefiting communities have expressed deep gratitude, recounting the difficult and unsafe conditions they previously endured due to prolonged darkness. According to them, the absence of street lighting had made movement at night extremely risky, with elderly residents struggling to return home safely and criminal activities thriving under the cover of darkness.

Many residents noted that before the intervention, fear and insecurity were common, as visibility was poor and people often lost confidence moving around after dusk. With the streetlights now in place, they say visibility has greatly improved, making it possible to see clearly from a distance and move freely at night.

The Chief of Iban Amanso Community commended Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba for considering their area as one of the beneficiaries of the streetlight project, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

Similarly, the Youth Leader of the community praised the lawmaker for his kind and people-oriented gesture, noting that the project has restored confidence, safety, and dignity to residents. He further urged Rt. Hon. Akiba to continue his good works, while praying for God’s strength and guidance upon him.

The streetlight intervention stands as another testament to Rt. Hon. Bassey Akiba’s commitment to improving the welfare, safety, and quality of life of his constituents, reinforcing his dedication to grassroots development and responsive representation.
