The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new process allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details.
The development is aimed at helping candidates who have been unable to receive important JAMB notifications or access services linked to their registered contact information.
JAMB announced the procedure in a video shared on its official X account on Wednesday, explaining how affected candidates can apply for a SIM swap or email change.
The revised process took effect on September 21, 2026, following the Board’s review of its previous restrictions on changes to candidates’ registered contact details. The new arrangement applies to candidates with genuine cases of lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email accounts.
How to change JAMB phone number or email
Candidates seeking to update their registered phone number, email address or both are required to follow a controlled verification process.
According to the procedure announced by JAMB, candidates should:
1. Obtain a court affidavit: Affected candidates are required to obtain a duly executed affidavit to support their request.
2. Log into JAMB e-Facility: Candidates should access their existing JAMB e-Facility profile.
3. Select the relevant payment option: From the available services, candidates should select the “SIM Swap/eMail Change Penalty Payment” option under the appropriate menu and complete the prescribed payment.
4. Visit a designated JAMB centre: After payment, candidates are required to proceed to a designated JAMB CBT centre, Professional Testing Centre, Professional Registration Centre or applicable JAMB State Office for the next stage of the process.
5. Complete biometric verification: Candidates will undergo identity and biometric verification before the requested changes are processed.
JAMB said the service is available only once per candidate, meaning applicants are expected to carefully verify their new phone number and/or email address before submitting the request.
The Board also advised candidates to use only approved JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised agents when attempting to change their registered details.
The development is expected to assist candidates who previously faced difficulties accessing their JAMB profiles or receiving important communications because they no longer had access to the phone number or email address used during registration.
Candidates can access the official JAMB e-Facility through the Board’s website and should rely on official JAMB channels for further instructions.
