In a strong demonstration of love, unity, and unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence, Hon. Bassey Akiba, member representing Calabar Municipality and odukpani federal constituency has once again reaffirmed his dedication to fostering harmony among people of different faiths by celebrating with the Muslims Faithful in the Eid-el-Fitr Day
Known for his consistent tradition of identifying with the Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan, the Honourable has over the years adopted the culture of breaking fast with them on the final day, an act that symbolizes unity, mutual respect, and shared humanity.
Although unavoidably absent this year due to official engagements, Hon. Akiba ensured his presence was strongly felt. In the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr, he generously released the sum of ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira) to support the Muslim faithful in celebrating the festive season.
Representing him at the event was the Ward 10 Liaison Officer, Mr Femi Stanley, who delivered the goodwill message and presented the support on behalf of the Honourable.
Speaking during the visit, the community leader, Alhaji Sani baba Gombe expressed deep appreciation, noting that even in his absence, Hon. Akiba remembered them and deemed it important to celebrate with them. He commended the lawmaker for his consistent show of love and inclusiveness, which continues to strengthen unity across religious lines.
The leader also used the opportunity to appreciate Hon. Akiba for facilitating the provision of vital medical equipment to the Primary Healthcare Centre in the area. According to him, since the installation of those facilities, healthcare delivery has significantly improved, bringing relief and better services to the people.
He concluded with prayers for the Honourable, asking God to continue to guide, strengthen, and empower him to do even more for the people, Insha Allah.
This gesture once again reinforces Hon. Bassey Akiba’s reputation as a leader who not only preaches peace but actively invests in it building bridges, empowering communities, and promoting lasting unity.
