The Wan-Dyityem Movement has called for what it describes as the restoration of the “natural order” of rotational equity in the representation of the Boki II State Constituency.

In a press release issued on April 15, 2026, from Calabar, the group said consultations with stakeholders across Boki II revealed a longstanding imbalance in the distribution of key political offices, particularly the seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly.
According to the movement, the historical record of representation in Boki II shows that several wards have produced elected representatives over the years, while Kakwagom/Bawop Ward has never occupied the State House seat.
The group listed previous occupants of the seat as:
- Charles Kekong — Bunyia/Okubuchi Ward (1983–1984)
- Gerald Odok — Ogep Ward (1991–1993)
- Mark Bukie Obi — Oku/Njua/Borim Ward (1999–2007)
- Jake Otu Enyia — Buda Ward (2007–2015)
- Hillary Bisong — Ekpashi Ward (2015 to date)
The movement emphasized that while every other ward has at one point occupied the office, Kakwagom/Bawop Wardremains without representation.
The group also pointed to the history of council chairmanship in Boki II, noting that the ward has similarly never produced a council chairman.
Past council chairmen listed by the movement include:
- Robert Erriom — Bunyia/Okubuchi Ward (1988–1989)
- Joe Tateh — Ogep Ward (1996–1998)
- Jake Enyia — Buda Ward (2003–2007)
- Jonas Obi Otu — Oku/Njua/Borim Ward (2010–2013)
- John Ewa — Bunyia/Okubuchi Ward (2019–2023)
According to the statement, since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999, the Boki II Assembly seat has rotated among the three clans of Osokom II, Irruan and Osokom I.
The movement said the sequence has been:
- 1999–2007: Osokom II — Oku/Njua/Borim Ward
- 2007–2015: Irruan — Buda Ward
- 2015–2023: Osokom I — Ekpashi Ward
It argued that, by that established order, the next turn should naturally revert to Osokom II. The movement stressed that within Osokom II, the only ward yet to produce a representative in the State House is Kakwagom/Bawop Ward.
The statement further rejected attempts to equate federal representation with state constituency representation. It noted that Victor Abang was elected to the House of Representatives of Nigeria by all 11 wards in Boki Local Government Area, while the State House seat is specifically a mandate of the six wards that make up Boki II Constituency.
“The result is clear: Kakwagom/Bawop Ward records nil for both the State House and council chairman positions since 1999,” the movement said.
The Wan-Dyityem Movement therefore called on political stakeholders and the people of Boki II to support the return of the State House seat to Kakwagom/Bawop Ward in order to preserve fairness, equity and what it described as the natural order of political rotation.
The statement was signed by Asama Ochang, Director General of the Wan-Dyityem Movement.
