The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in Osun State will begin on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, the exercise is targeted at residents who recently registered as new voters, transferred their voter registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The commission said PVCs will first be distributed at the 332 Registration Areas (wards) across the state from July 22 to July 28, with collection taking place daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
After the ward-level distribution, the exercise will continue at all INEC Local Government Area offices from July 29 to August 7, also between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.
Babalola emphasized that PVC collection must be done in person, warning that collecting a card on behalf of another person is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the law.
INEC urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise, stressing that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.
The commission also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
