Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães after reportedly reaching an agreement on a £75 million transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder.
According to multiple reports on Wednesday, the Gunners have agreed a deal with Newcastle after improving their initial offer, with the 28-year-old now expected to undergo a medical before completing his move to the Emirates Stadium.
Sky Sports reported that Arsenal and Newcastle have settled on a £75 million fee, with Guimarães granted permission to travel for his medical as the transfer enters its final stages.
The Brazil international has been one of Newcastle’s standout performers since joining from Lyon in January 2022. During his time at St James’ Park, he made 195 appearances, scored 31 goals, and captained the Magpies, playing a key role in their League Cup success.
Guimarães had previously expressed his desire to join Arsenal, and after weeks of negotiations, the Premier League champions appear to have secured one of their top transfer targets.
If the deal is completed, the midfielder will become one of Arsenal’s marquee signings of the summer as manager Mikel Arteta continues to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign and Champions League challenge.
