Nonye Soludo Breaks Silence on Viral Video Linking Son to Peter Obi

Written by Mary Bassey

The wife of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Dr Nonye Soludo, has dismissed a viral video allegedly showing her son, Ozonna Soludo, campaigning for the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.

Mrs Soludo described the video as misleading, insisting that it did not originate from her son and was falsely attributed to him.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media, shows a young man dancing to a song promoting Peter Obi, with the former Anambra governor’s picture and the NDC logo superimposed on the clip.

In a statement issued through her media aide, Dan Ezeigwe, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the governor’s wife described the video as malicious and warned against associating Ozonna with it.

The statement also mentioned an individual identified as Kelechi Simon, reportedly a medical radiographer based in Delta State, whom it linked to the creation and circulation of the video.

Mrs Soludo warned those spreading the clip to stop, noting that individuals involved in misinformation and libel could face legal consequences.

She, however, maintained that Nigerians have the right to support their preferred political candidates and participate in political discussions, provided they do not resort to fabricated content or deliberate misinformation.

She also urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it on social media.

The controversy has attracted attention because Peter Obi is a former governor of Anambra State, while Ozonna is the son of the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
