Yomi Fabiyi Raises Questions Over Tope Osoba’s Death

Written by Mary Bassey

Nollywood actor and human rights activist, Yomi Fabiyi, has called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of actress Temitope Osoba.

Fabiyi made the call on Monday through a statement shared on his Instagram page, saying his organisation, Break The Silence Foundation, had petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police over the actress’s death.

According to the actor, the organisation has commenced what it described as a “legitimate probe” to establish the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.

Fabiyi said the decision to investigate was prompted, in part, by an alleged police report made by Osoba shortly before her death.

He disclosed that a petition had already been submitted to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, signalling the organisation’s intention to pursue the matter through legal and investigative channels.

“Our Human Rights Organization has initiated a legitimate probe into the death of TEMITOPE OSOBA and have since established legal action by first sending in a bundle via a PETITION to the COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, LAGOS STATE, no turning back,” Fabiyi stated.

The activist also called for steps to establish the actual cause and circumstances of Osoba’s death, including an autopsy, as part of efforts to provide clarity and address any unanswered questions surrounding the case.

Fabiyi’s intervention has now drawn fresh attention to the circumstances surrounding the actress’s death, particularly the claim that she had approached the police before her demise.

However, details of the alleged police report, the specific circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death and whether authorities have formally commenced an investigation had not been independently established at the time of publication.

Further developments are expected as the petition and alleged investigation progress.
