The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has cleared e-hailing company Bolt to resume operations at airports under its management, bringing an end to the temporary disruption that affected passengers.
The authority announced the development on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following engagements with Bolt that resulted in an agreement on a framework for the company’s operations within FAAN-managed airports.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, said the authority had made the necessary adjustments after considering complaints and concerns raised by travellers.
He also apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption of e-hailing services.
According to FAAN, the agreement is intended to provide a workable structure for Bolt’s activities while addressing safety, security, accountability and passenger-experience concerns within the airport environment.
The latest development comes days after FAAN clarified that it had not imposed a blanket ban on e-hailing services at Nigerian airports. The authority had explained that commercial transport operators needed to operate under an appropriate framework that would allow FAAN to maintain visibility over vehicles and drivers and improve coordination in security or passenger-related situations.
FAAN had also introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) as part of efforts to organise commercial transportation services at airports. The authority maintained that ACHRAMS was designed to address issues including passenger solicitation, touting, random pick-ups and other safety and accountability concerns, rather than to compete with e-hailing platforms.
With the latest agreement, Bolt can now resume its services immediately at FAAN-managed airports.
FAAN also indicated that discussions with other e-hailing operators are continuing, with the aim of establishing arrangements that meet the authority’s operational and security requirements.
