Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult start to the 2026/27 Premier League season continued on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The result means Spurs have now played four Premier League matches without scoring a single goal, stretching their goal drought beyond 400 minutes. They are also still searching for their first league victory of the campaign, having collected just two points from their opening four fixtures.
Tottenham started brightly and dominated possession during the early stages, but their attacking play once again lacked the cutting edge needed to break through Everton’s organised defence.
Defenders Jan Paul van Hecke and Andrew Robertson were among the Tottenham players involved in early attacking situations, while Dominic Solanke also came close to finding the net. However, Spurs were unable to turn their pressure into a goal.
Everton gradually grew into the contest and created some of the better chances as the match progressed. Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall threatened the Tottenham defence, while goalkeeper Antonín Kinsky made important interventions to keep the visitors from taking the lead.
Tottenham improved their attacking threat after the break, with Mateus Fernandes registering one of their efforts on target. Lucas Bergvall also forced a save from Jordan Pickford late in the game, but Everton’s goalkeeper remained unbeaten.
Despite Tottenham’s attempts to find a breakthrough, the match ended 0-0, leaving Roberto De Zerbi’s side without a Premier League goal after four matches.
The goalless run represents an unwanted piece of history for Spurs, who had not previously started a league season with four consecutive matches without scoring. Their only goals so far this season have come in the League Cup.
