Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur and TRON founder Justin Sun has reportedly filed a lawsuit against actress Jing Tian and her parents over an alleged 30 million yuan ($4.5 million) betrothal gift paid during their relationship.
The legal dispute has attracted significant attention in China, bringing together the worlds of cryptocurrency, celebrity relationships and traditional marriage customs.
According to reports citing Sun’s lawyer, Zhang Qihuai, the case was accepted by the Yanta District People’s Court in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. The legal action reportedly seeks the return of money allegedly transferred to Jing Tian’s parents in anticipation of marriage.
Why Justin Sun Is Seeking the Money Back
Sun and Jing Tian reportedly dated for approximately seven months and discussed marriage before their relationship ended in the first half of 2026.
Sun’s legal team claims that he proposed to the actress in January and transferred the funds to her parents’ accounts as a traditional betrothal gift, commonly known as caili in China.
Following the breakdown of the relationship, Sun reportedly sought to recover the money through legal action. His lawyer also disclosed that the court had granted a property-preservation order in connection with the case.
However, the reported preservation order is a preliminary legal measure and does not represent a final ruling on whether the money must be returned.
Justin Sun’s Viral Post Fuels Controversy
The dispute gained further public attention on August 27, 2026, after Sun published a lengthy post on X titled “My Girlfriend Jing Tian.”
In the post, which he labelled “purely fictional,” Sun described his alleged relationship with the actress, including luxury spending, marriage plans, financial matters and discussions involving surrogacy.
He also made claims about alleged financial demands during their relationship. However, because Sun presented the account as fictional, the details should be treated as unverified allegations rather than established facts.
The post quickly attracted widespread attention online, sparking discussions among fans, entertainment followers and members of the cryptocurrency community.
