Nigeria’s stock market has reached a new milestone, with the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) equity market reportedly hitting a record valuation of N164.97 trillion amid strong investor activity.
The development comes as the market has continued to record significant gains, with its benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) reaching a record 253,990.06 points on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
According to market reports, the equity market’s total capitalisation rose to N164.91 trillion on that day, up from N163.16 trillion recorded in the previous trading session. This represented an increase of approximately N1.75 trillion in one day.
The rally was supported by gains in major stocks, particularly Dangote Cement Plc, which rose by 9.80 per cent during the session. Other notable gainers included Honeywell Flour Mill Plc and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc.
Trading activity was also strong, with approximately 5.23 billion shares exchanged across 35,882 deals during the session.
Market capitalisation represents the combined value of listed shares at prevailing market prices. It does not mean that the same amount of cash entered the market.
The latest figures highlight the strong momentum in Nigeria’s equities market, although share prices and market valuations can fluctuate as investors respond to economic conditions and company performance.
