The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as Muyideen Olatunbosun, who is suspected of belonging to a cult group in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Olatunbosun was arrested during an intelligence-led anti-crime patrol covering Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu, following information received by police operatives.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a rubber-made pistol, an axe, suspected criminal charms and an illicit substance popularly known as “Ice.”
The police said the suspect remains in custody and is assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are being made to apprehend other suspected members of the alleged cult group.
The arrest, according to the command, forms part of its continued intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling cultism and other criminal activities across Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to credible information.
The command also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist the police in preventing crime and apprehending suspects.The investigation is ongoing.
