Former heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has revealed plans to invite United States President Donald Trump to lead his ring walk ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with British rival Anthony Joshua.
The long-awaited all-British heavyweight clash is scheduled for December 11, 2026, at the 80,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Fury, popularly known as the ‘Gypsy King’, believes Trump could add extra excitement and glamour to the historic encounter by accompanying him to the ring before the opening bell.
Speaking about the possibility, Fury confirmed his intention to extend the invitation to the American leader, although he acknowledged that Trump’s presidential responsibilities could make his attendance difficult.
The proposed appearance follows a meeting between the two men in June at UFC Freedom 250, an event hosted at the White House by UFC president Dana White.
During the encounter, Fury was seen wearing a cap bearing the message, “Donald Trump for Prime Minister”, in a show of support for the US president.
The British boxer also expressed appreciation for Trump’s role in helping resolve issues surrounding his previous restrictions on entering the United States.
Meanwhile, preparations continue for the December showdown, which is expected to attract global attention as two of Britain’s most recognisable heavyweight fighters finally prepare to settle their long-standing rivalry inside the ring.
The fight, backed by Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh and Netflix, will be streamed globally, marking a major moment for British boxing.
Although Trump’s participation remains uncertain, Fury’s proposed invitation has added another talking point to an already highly anticipated sporting event.
The December 11 encounter will mark the first professional meeting between Fury and Joshua after years of failed negotiations and postponed plans.
With the two former world champions finally set to face each other, attention is now turning to the spectacle surrounding the fight, including who will accompany Fury on his walk to the ring.
