The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions against accepting admission offers outside its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The board issued the warning in a message shared on its official social media platforms on Monday, October 12, urging prospective students to verify their admission status through CAPS before accepting any offer.
According to JAMB, admissions offered outside the approved system may not be recognised by the board, potentially putting affected candidates at risk of admission and registration complications.
CAPS is the official platform established by JAMB to manage and monitor admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and other approved tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The system allows candidates to check their admission status and accept or reject admission offers.
The board has maintained that admission offers from tertiary institutions must go through the approved JAMB process. Its published guidelines state that candidates who accept admissions outside CAPS do so at their own risk, as the board may neither recognise such admissions nor condone them.
Candidates are therefore advised to log in to their JAMB profiles and check their admission status on CAPS before proceeding with registration or other admission-related activities.
Those whose admission status has not been updated are encouraged to confirm the situation with their institutions or contact JAMB through its official support channels.
The warning serves as a reminder to prospective students to verify the authenticity of their admission offers and follow the approved process to avoid complications during admission and registration.
