Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session have been advised to regularly check their admission status on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
JAMB urged candidates who have been offered admission to promptly log into their profiles and either accept or reject the offer, rather than leaving the admission unattended.
The advice was contained in a video explainer shared by the Board on its official social media platforms on Friday, as the admission process for the 2026/2027 academic session continues.
How to check your JAMB admission status
Candidates can check their admission status by following these steps:
1. Visit the official JAMB e-Facility portal and log in with the email address and password linked to their JAMB profile.
2. Select “Check Admission Status” on the candidate dashboard.
3. Click on “Access my CAPS.”
4. Select “Admission Status” from the CAPS menu.
5. If an admission offer is available, the candidate will see the institution and programme offered.
6. The candidate can then choose to Accept or Reject the admission offer.
Candidates whose admission status still shows “Not Admitted” are advised to continue checking their CAPS profiles, as institutions may process and release admissions at different times.
What happens after accepting admission?
Candidates who accept an admission offer on CAPS can subsequently print their JAMB admission letter and access other relevant services through their profiles. JAMB has also stressed that admissions must be processed through its official system.
The Board’s admission guidelines state that an admission offered outside JAMB’s CAPS is not recognised by the Board. Candidates are therefore advised to ensure that any admission they accept is properly reflected on the JAMB platform.
JAMB’s CAPS was established to automate and streamline the admission process, allowing candidates to monitor their admission status and confirm provisional admission offers.
Candidates are encouraged to check their profiles regularly and act promptly whenever an admission offer becomes available.
