Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has officially flagged off the 2027 Labour Party campaign in Umuahia, the state capital, urging party supporters to respect democratic principles and allow opposition parties to carry out their political activities without interference.
Otti gave the warning during the campaign flag-off on Sunday, November 1, 2026, where he cautioned supporters against disrupting or obstructing political gatherings organised by other parties across the state.
The governor stressed the importance of political tolerance, peaceful participation and respect for the rights of other political groups, noting that democracy allows different parties to campaign and engage voters freely.
He urged Labour Party members and supporters to demonstrate maturity and avoid actions that could create unnecessary tension or threaten the peaceful political atmosphere in Abia State.
Otti’s warning comes as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties expected to intensify their campaigns and mobilisation efforts in the coming months.
The governor’s message highlights the importance of peaceful political competition and respect for democratic freedoms as parties prepare for the next electoral contest.
