The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has sparked reactions after making a comment about hunger and the availability of food in Nigerian markets.
Yari made the remark on Friday, November 6, 2026, during the APC presidential campaign rally at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking to party supporters, the former Zamfara State governor questioned claims that Nigerians were facing hunger, arguing that food items, including rice and other essential commodities, were available in markets.
He asked whether anyone with money had gone to the market and discovered that there was no rice or foodstuff to purchase.
“Anyone who is not a lazy person will definitely have food on his table,” Yari declared.
His comment came amid ongoing public concerns about the rising cost of living, food prices and economic hardship across the country.
Yari’s remarks were part of his defence of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its economic policies ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
At the rally, he also urged Akwa Ibom residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, calling on the state to deliver 1.6 million votes for the APC in the forthcoming election.
He maintained that the ruling party would rely on its record in government and the support of voters to secure victory.
