Residence of Ekureku Abi local Government Area, who\’s part of an association called Federation of Abi Medical Student Union (FAMSU) raised alarm over recent hike of infection in the community.
Cases of intestinal worms especially in Ekureku is so rampant that it affect not only children but also Adult inclusive. When further investigation was carried out, it was discover that the people are exposed to bad drinking water from ponds and lakes and also the people of Ekureku do not carryout deworming as advice by WHO.

The association FAMSU is a Non governmental organization that Means Federation of Abi Medical students Union that is created with the view of Harnessing the strength of Abi medical students and alumni togetherness for a Healthy society through career coach, Medical outreaches/Campaigns, national/international opportunities, movement to attract NGOs and government to critical issues in our locality, Seminars, entrepreneurship training, Scholarships and lot more.

FAMSU is pleading with necessary stakeholders and Agencies to intervene by availing deworming medicine to the people and also carry out an awareness campaign on how to prevent intestinal worms and other tropical diseases not yet know.
