Jungle Justice: One lynched in Calabar on Easter Sunday

In the early hours of today, angry youths mobbed a suspected phone snatcher in the Edim Otop area of Calabar, the Cross River state capital.

According to eye witnesses who pleaded anonymity, the suspect was apprehended by local vigilantes when he snatched his victim\’s phone and other belongings and was on his hills to abscond last night.

The suspect who was only identified as Eyo was alleged by some of the witnesses to be one of the bad boys troubling the area for some time now.

Information surrounding the incident is still sketchy as most people living around the area refused to comment for no obvious reasons. It was however confirmed that the suspect was caught around the covet area and lynched immediately after the Edim-Otop market.

However, stealing by all standard is a criminal offense and should not be encouraged by anyone, but extra judicial killing is condemnable. As at the time of filling this report, effort to reach the state police command proves abortive.
