NANS-JCC Chairman\’s Courtesy Call on Security Agencies in Cross River State for Collaboration and Partnership
The early hours of 1st August 2023 marked a significant day for the Cross River State NANS-JCC Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Michael Iwara, as he embarked on a courtesy call to the offices of the Cross River State Commission of Police and the Department of State Service. Accompanied by his Executive team, SUG Presidents, and other institutional representatives, the Chairman sought to table pressing security challenges and emphasize the welfare of Nigerian students in the state.
In both places, the various SUG Presidents had the opportunity to present the security challenges faced in their respective constituencies. Comrade Emmanuel Michael Iwara, as the NANS-JCC Chairman, then consolidated these issues and highlighted additional concerns pertaining to the welfare and security of Nigerian students in the state.
- The Commissioner of Police, CP Austine Grimah, in the presence of the PPRO, SP Irene Ugboh, expressed gratitude for the delegates\’ prompt response to the courtesy call and commended the NANS government for conducting a credible, free, and fair election witnessed by some personnel from the Police Force. He assured the student leaders of continuous collaboration and cooperation with the students under NANS-JCC\’s leadership, and he offered valuable advice on handling economic hardships and conducting protests.
The DSS Director: Mr. John Sokoya, DSS Deputy Director: Mr. Ben, and the Student Officer: Mr. Prince, welcome the delegation to the DSS office. The DSS Director acknowledged the longstanding collaboration with students and affirmed the importance of students in the state\’s security system. He assured the delegation of the Service\’s openness to maintain a continuous working relationship with the students under NANS-JCC\’s umbrella. The Director promised to address the presented challenges promptly and efficiently, redirecting matters beyond their jurisdiction to the state government for resolution. The Student Officer of the Service thanked the Director of the Service for his particular concern about the well-being of students and assures his readiness to serve the service and the student. He also appealed that useful information be provided to the Service for follow-up actions.
The courtesy visit to the security agencies in Cross River State culminated in the evening of the same day. Comrade Emmanuel Michael Iwara expressed gratitude to all who heeded the call, emphasizing that every institution would be included and none excluded from the efforts to address the security challenges faced by Nigerian students in the state.
