Honourable Representative Bassey Forges Partnerships With Development Institution’s, Trains Over 500 Constituents On Agro-Based Cooperatives
It was praises galore for the Honourable Member, representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services, Rep Bassey Akiba as he facilitates training of over 500 constituents for the establishment of Farm Clusters for Agric-Based Cooperatives in Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency.
Tuesday, July 16, 2024, was the opening session with Stakeholders(NIRSAL, BOA, BAF, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, CRS Cooperative Office) at the Conference Hall of Jorany Hotel, Calabar.
Addressing the participants, the Consultant and Managing Director, CHIPAN NIG LTD, Mr. Patrick Nnaemeka, described the training as laudable and commended Rep. Bassey Akiba for creating economic opportunities for his constituents through Cooperatives.
The Director General, Bassey Akiba Foundation, Mrs Precious Esse, restated the commitment of the Federal Lawmaker to the welfare and well-being of his constituents, urging the participants to take the training seriously.
Represented by Mr. Akinniyi Olufemi, the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, said the Council is delighted to collaborate with Rep. Bassey Akiba in creating a sustainable means of livelihood for the people.
Another partner, Bank of Agriculture(BOA) Limited, a Development Finance Institution for the Agriculture and Rural sector, welcomed the collaborative synergy, saying it will strive to ensure that the Agricultural value chain succeed and become profitable.
Applauding Rep. Bassey Akiba\’s noble initiative, the Head, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending(NIRSAL Plc.) Field Office, Calabar, Mr. Progress Uduzeli, posited that NIRSAL\’s mission is to forge Partnerships between Agriculture and finance; maximizing the potential of Agriculture for food security, job creation, and economic growth.
In the same vein, Cross River State Cooperative Office, highlighted the essential role of Cooperatives as a community development strategy.
While commending Rep. Bassey Akiba, a cross-section of the participants, when interviewed, expressed delight over the training, saying, it would better their lives and livelihoods.
