REP. BASSEY AKIBA’S MESSAGE TO MARK NIGERIA’S 64TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY
Fellow Nigerians,
On this day in 1960, the shackles of colonialism were broken and cast aside, and Nigeria joined the league of independent countries, marking not only the dawn of our freedom but also the beginning of our journey towards self-determination.
Nigeria’s independence represents the resilience, strength, and diversity of our people. Despite the many challenges we have faced over the years, we have continued to stand tall, united in our common purpose of building a prosperous nation. We have endured trials, embraced change, and remained steadfast in our pursuit of a better future for all.
This year’s celebration is a reminder of the dreams of our founding fathers – a Nigeria that thrives on justice, equity, and peace. It is a time to renew our commitment to these ideals and continue working towards the progress of our nation.
The journey of nationhood is a marathon, which requires patience, resilience, tolerance, and determination. Let us remain optimistic, for the challenges of this time will rebound to a glorious fortune for us and generations yet to come.
As your representative, l have an unflinching belief in the future of our great country. I consider it a priority and sacred duty to continue to strengthen the bond of unity that holds us together.
