The Royal Government of Cambodia has directed African nationals currently residing in the country to leave on or before May 31, 2026, warning that anyone who fails to comply with the order risks arrest, detention, imprisonment, and heavy financial penalties.
The directive was contained in an official notice issued by the General Department of Immigration under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.
The notice was addressed to African nationals living in the Kingdom of Cambodia, including citizens of Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda, and other African countries.
According to the statement, a temporary immigration waiver earlier granted to the affected foreigners will officially expire on May 31, 2026, after which strict enforcement measures will commence.
The Cambodian authorities warned that individuals who remain in the country beyond the deadline without valid legal documentation or authorization would be treated as violators of immigration laws and subjected to legal action.
