Al Ahli Complete $50m Deal to Sign Francisco Trincão from Sporting CP
Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli have completed the signing of Portuguese winger Francisco Trincão from Sporting CP in a deal worth up to $50 million.
The agreement includes a guaranteed $45 million transfer fee with an additional $5 million in performance-related add-ons, bringing an end to Trincão’s successful spell at Sporting. The move confirms reports that first emerged eight days ago, with the transfer now fully agreed by all parties.
Trincão accepted Al Ahli’s contract offer after reaching an agreement on personal terms, while his agent, Jorge Mendes, played a key role in finalising the negotiations. The deal is now complete, and the 25-year-old is set to begin a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
Al Ahli view Trincão as the ideal replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is expected to leave the club this summer. The Portuguese international is known for his pace, creativity, and ability to operate across the front line, qualities the club believes will strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.
Trincão enjoyed an impressive campaign with Sporting, contributing goals and assists while helping the club compete for domestic honours. His performances also earned him continued recognition with the Portugal national team.
Before joining Sporting permanently, Trincão played for Braga, Barcelona, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, gaining valuable experience in both La Liga and the Premier League.
The signing represents another major statement by Al Ahli as Saudi Arabian clubs continue to attract top European talent. With Trincão now on board, the club hopes the winger can make an immediate impact and help lead the team to success in domestic and continental competitions.
An official unveiling is expected soon as Al Ahli prepare for the upcoming season with one of the summer’s most significant attacking signings.
