The families of slain heroes have received assurances from Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu that their efforts will not be forgotten.

As part of the celebrations for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Otu, accompanied by State Government Secretary Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, spoke during a church service at the Presbyterian Church, Hope Waddell, in honor of the fallen heroes. He pledged to support the families and provide assistance as needed.

\”Some Nigerians paid the greatest price and made sacrifices for us to be where we are today.

Thus, in my opinion, we shouldn\’t let their labors end in useless. We support you and are available to help whenever necessary. We promise that no family will ever have to confront hardships alone.

The governor declared, \”We will support the widows and legion far beyond this ceremony.\”

He applauded the security agency officers and men for their efforts in combating instability in the state and urged them to keep trying their hardest to guarantee that peace prevails both in the state and throughout the nation.

The Prelate and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria\’s General Assembly, His Eminence, Most Rev. Ekpenyong Akpanika, stressed in his sermon the value of sacrifice for the country and advised Nigerians to use the occasion of the Armed Forces Remembrance celebrations to think more deeply about the significance and meaning of sacrifice as it relates to the country\’s best interests.

\”We get the chance to think and look for harmonious methods to coexist with other members of the community thanks to this service.

\”No matter what we are passing through, victory is sure, we will not labour in vain,\” the cardinal stated.
