The Joseph Ogogo Foundation (JOF) is steadily building a legacy of community transformation in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State through targeted interventions in education, infrastructure, public safety, digital connectivity and faith-based development.

The Foundation’s First Intervention Programme was launched to address financial barriers preventing children from attending school. The initiative commenced at Bukemanya Government Primary School and 10 other schools, providing essential educational support to pupils and helping families struggling to meet the cost of schooling.

For many rural families, school fees, exercise books, writing materials and other basic requirements can represent a significant financial burden. By supporting these needs, JOF helped ensure that children were not forced out of school because of circumstances beyond their control.

Second Intervention Expands Educational Support

Building on the first phase, the Foundation introduced its Second Intervention Programme, expanding its support to more pupils and addressing additional challenges affecting their participation in school.

Beneficiaries received school uniforms, exercise books, writing materials and other essential educational resources.

The Foundation also fully funded tuition fees for primary and pre-primary pupils at Bukemanya Government Primary School, providing significant relief for parents and guardians.

Beyond financial assistance, the programme sought to restore dignity and confidence among pupils. By ensuring that children had uniforms and learning materials, JOF helped create a more inclusive environment where pupils could participate in school without feeling disadvantaged by their economic circumstances.

Third Intervention Focuses on Sustainability

The Third Intervention Programme marked another step in the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable community development.

Rather than treating humanitarian support as one-off assistance, JOF continued its educational interventions to ensure that previous beneficiaries remained supported while reaching additional communities across Obanliku.

The Foundation also extended educational assistance to schools in communities with difficult road access, demonstrating its determination to ensure that geographical isolation does not become a permanent barrier to educational opportunity.

JOF further engaged community leaders, teachers, elders and other stakeholders to understand emerging needs and strengthen its feedback mechanism.

JOF Installs Solar Street Lights Across Communities

Recognising that community development extends beyond education, the Joseph Ogogo Foundation has also invested in public safety through the installation of solar-powered street lights along key highways and community routes.

The project is designed to improve visibility, support safer movement at night and provide sustainable lighting in communities where conventional electricity supply may be unreliable.

Supporting Roads and Community Connectivity

Poor road networks remain a major challenge to rural development, affecting transportation, agriculture, access to healthcare, education and economic activities.

The Foundation has therefore supported local road maintenance initiatives and advocated improved connectivity in communities including Bukemanya and Ketting Bendi.

Improved roads can make it easier for farmers to transport produce to markets while also connecting residents to essential services and surrounding communities.

The Foundation constructed the worship centre from the ground up and subsequently handed it over to the Catholic Church community.

The project stands as one of JOF’s major expressions of faith and service and has been regarded as one of the notable worship centres within the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja.

The church provides a permanent place of worship where members of the Catholic community can gather in prayer, strengthen fellowship and pass spiritual values to future generations.
